Server hardening, cloud security, web app testing

Hardening systems. Testing defenses.

I'm Rao, a computer science graduate and cybersecurity practitioner. I help businesses secure their Linux servers, cloud infrastructure, and web applications through hands-on penetration testing and practical hardening, not checkbox audits.

  • Written scope firstNothing is changed or tested without your clear, written go-ahead.
  • Plain-English reportsFindings ranked by what matters most, with steps to fix them.
  • Confidential by defaultWhat I find stays between you and me.
  • Fixes recheckedI confirm the problems you fix are really closed.

The internet never sleeps

Automated scanners knock on every public server, all day long. Most are harmless noise, but some aren't. Here's a simulated view of what that traffic looks like. My job is making sure your doors are locked.

Probes blocked in this demo0Simulated for illustration, not a real-time feed.

What I do

Most security problems start with systems left on their default settings. I lock them down properly, then test them to prove it works.

Linux server hardening

I lock down the servers your business runs on, so they stay private, patched and quietly doing their job.

Good for: websites, apps and internal tools running on Linux.

  • Safer SSH and user access
  • Firewall and unneeded services reviewed
  • Updates, logging and basic monitoring in place

Cloud security hardening

I tighten your cloud setup so the right people have access and nothing is open that shouldn't be.

Good for: teams who moved to the cloud quickly and want a second pair of eyes.

  • Permissions cleaned up: who can access what
  • Public storage and exposed services closed
  • Settings aligned with good practice

Web application penetration testing

I test your website or web app the way an attacker would, then show you what I found and how to fix it.

Good for: online shops, customer portals, booking and login systems.

  • Hands-on testing against the OWASP Top 10
  • Clear report with evidence and fixes
  • Recheck once the fixes are in

Also available: small Python tools that automate routine security checks, so they run every time without anyone having to remember.

How we'd work together

No surprises. You always know what I'm doing and why.

  1. Talk

We agree on what is in scope, what is off limits, and when testing happens. All in writing.

  2. Review

I examine your servers, cloud setup or web app carefully and safely.

  3. Report

You get a plain-English report with findings ranked by how much they matter.

  4. Fix and recheck

I harden or help fix the important issues, then check that they are actually closed.

About me

I'm Rao, a computer science graduate focused on practical security. My work centres on Linux systems, cloud environments and web applications, and I write Python to automate the repetitive parts.

I'm building my practice one carefully done project at a time, which means every client gets my full attention. I also write up what I learn on the blog, so you can see how I think before we ever talk.

I get permission first

Every change and test has written authorisation and agreed boundaries.

I explain, not impress

You'll know what is wrong, why it matters and what to do about it.

I'm honest about scope

If a simpler fix is enough, I'll say so instead of selling you more.

I respect your data

Anything I see while working is kept confidential. I'm happy to sign an NDA.

Questions people ask

Will this disrupt my servers or website?

I work to avoid it. Scope and timing are agreed in writing, changes are planned and tested carefully, and I keep a way to roll back. I'll ask before anything that could affect live services.

Do I need to be technical to work with you?

No. I explain things in plain language. The report is written for the people making decisions, with the technical detail included for whoever does the fixing.

What will I receive at the end?

A written report covering what I found, how serious each issue is, the evidence, and clear steps to fix it. I'm happy to walk you through it on a call.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size of what's being checked. Tell me about your setup and I'll give you a clear quote before any work starts.

Will my information stay private?

Yes. Findings and access details stay confidential, and I'm happy to sign an NDA.

I'm not sure what I need. Where do I start?

Send me a short message about what you run and what worries you. I'll tell you honestly what makes sense, even if that's less than you expected.

Tell me about your project

No pressure and no jargon. Tell me what you run and what worries you, and I'll reply with an honest view of what would help.

  • What you run: a website, servers, cloud accounts, or all three
  • What's on your mind, or what prompted you to reach out
  • Any deadlines I should know about
